the chalky floor, gasping for water. a barely discernible
and yet i found myself electrified,
flailing with adrenaline,
my heart in my throat. a wake-up call –
the future trembling in my veins.

Grace Alice Evans (she/they), is an LGBTQ+, mixed-heritage poet, writer, and sound/visual artist. They are also a survivor, and in the process of recovery.
