Tealight Talks - "Heart" Part 1
Each month, the editors of Tealight Press interview each other with questions based on the months theme. For this months 'Tealight Talks', Sash interviews Matt on Tealight's topic for May, "Heart."
Can you tell us about something in your life that you've truly put your heart and soul into?
My mind was initially leaning towards work and accomplishments I was proud of and trying to whittle it down, but I guess my personal relationships is what I actually put the best of my time, energy and heart into. I'm proud of the few, strong connections I've made and maintained with the people I'm closest to.
What's your favourite love story in fiction?
I like my love stories either really gentle and sweet or really high stakes drama, so I'll pick an example of each. Kongpob and Arthit from SOTUS, or Cathy and Heathcliffe from Wuthering Heights.
How do you deal with heartbreak?
Not well! I'm good at throwing myself into other things but I think the emotional weight of heartbreak really takes a toll on me. It sounds cliche but time really is the best thing to get over something.
To talk about 'the heart of something' refers to its vital matter or essence. What's something you cherish that you couldn't live without?
Circling back to my first answer, my friends. I've got some of the best friends in the world.
"Life loves the liver of it" - Maya Angelou. When was a time you truly felt that exhilarating rush of being alive?
Apart from big, exciting risky adventures, I always get that feeling whenever I'm in a car or on a train with people I love, with headphones on and travelling through somewhere with beautiful or interesting scenery, which is nice.
