Tealight Talks - "Duality" Part 1
Each month, the editors of Tealight Press interview each other with questions based on the months theme. For this months 'Tealight Talks', Sash interviews Matt on Tealight's topic for January, "Duality."
Tell us the last decision you had to make. Was it tough or a no-brainer?
My major decisions right now all stem from two plans I made for myself for the year, so every eventuality is already relatively well thought-out before the decision is even made. No-brainers for sure!
What's your favourite food combination?
Sweet and salty!
Can you describe a contradiction or double standard that really bothers you?
Double standards are so prevalent in everyday life and it's really frustrating and disheartening. The double standard that I'm personally always thinking about is the different standards to which men and women are held. Not only is so much of it glaringly obvious and overt, but there's a thousand smaller and more insidious ways it factors into daily life. It's such a historic, complex issue that it sometimes seems impossible to untangle it all, but I'm hoping with time more and more people will contribute to dismantling it.
In fiction or mythology, a Doppelgänger is a paranormal phenomenon supposed to bring bad luck. Have you ever met someone who's uncannily similar to yourself, either physically or in some other way?
There's definitely people I've been told I resemble, but each time I've come across them the similarities always center on mannerisms and facial expressions rather than a similar physical appearance. I would love to meet a doppelganger though, I imagine it's equal parts funny and unnerving.
Finally, pick one: sunrises or sunsets?
This is so hard. I'm always awake for sunsets and catch them pretty much every day, but I would love to see more sunrises. They always feel quite solitary and special.
